Our philosophy is based on the preservation of natural, cyclical processes. The nutrients we need are in a constant cycle in nature, constantly being built up and broken down and alternating between soil, plants, animals and air.
For example, our green plants release oxygen into the air during photosynthesis, which is then absorbed again by small creatures, plants, animals and humans and consumed to generate energy. For example, we cultivate our tomatoes in soil which is enriched by compost worked by our chickens, the tomatoes are served as sugo then afterwards what remains of the plant is fed back into the compost system to complete the cycle.
We grow a wide variety of fruit and vegetables, all using natural, non-invasive methods and taking seasonality into account. We do not use synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, but natural methods such as composting and crop rotation and organic plant protection. Throughout the year, on our family farm we grow a variety of produce such as:
Vegetables: tomatoes, zucchinis, cucumbers, eggplants, peppers, pumpkins, chard, cabbage, onions, garlic, potatoes, peas, beans
Fruit: apples, pears, cherries, peaches, apricots, strawberries, etc. depending on the season
Herbs and spices: Sage, thyme, oregano, marjoram, basil, parsley and mint
We also keep chickens, which give us fresh eggs every day and we produce our own honey.
