Asti is only a quarter of an hour away from us by car. The city centre of Asti, the city of 100 towers, is very well preserved and is complemented by magnificent baroque buildings. Worth seeing are the city towers and the 14th century cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, the Gothic collegiate church of San Secondo, the rotunda of San Pietro and the monastery of Sant’ Anastasio with its extensive Roman thermal baths. In between, you can relax in one of the many Gelateria for an ice cream or enjoy a snack in a bar with Asti Spumante (Asti is world-famous for its sparkling wine).
Every fourth Sunday of the month there is an antiques market in Asti, where you can also find regional specialties such as torrone, coffee and wines. The traditional wine and harvest festival and the traditional Palio d’Asti horse race take place every year in September.
Alba is also only about 40 minutes away by car, a town known for its culinary and wine-growing traditions, especially for the white truffle in the fall and the many wineries that produce famous wines typical of Piedmont.
